Chelsea offered VAR explanation for controversial call in Leeds draw

Chelsea’s frustration boiled over as a late Leeds United equalizer was allowed to stand following a contentious VAR check regarding a potential Jayden Bogle handball.

Chelsea players and fans were left incensed after Noah Okafor’s equalizer stood despite a suspected handball by Jayden Bogle.

Although the ball appeared to strike Bogle’s arm during a frantic scramble, VAR upheld the on-field decision.

Former referee Mike Dean expressed his disbelief on Soccer Special, stating: “I am surprised it hasn’t been disallowed. It’s hit Bogle’s elbow.”

The Premier League Match Centre clarified that no “handball offence” occurred, suggesting the contact was accidental or didn’t meet the threshold for a goal-scorer infraction.

This explanation did little to quiet the Chelsea faithful, with one fan posting: “Makes no sense to me how Bogle can knock the ball forward with his arm which is the only reason he kept possession then they score.”
