Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has allayed fears regarding Marc Guehi’s fitness after the England international was substituted during the club’s 2-1 defeat to Strasbourg, according to a report from the Evening Standard.
Guehi was withdrawn just after half-time in the Conference League fixture, leading to concerns that he might miss Sunday’s Premier League clash against Manchester United.
Guehi had recently returned early from international duty after failing to recover from a foot injury suffered against AZ Alkmaar, though he played the full 90 minutes against Wolves last weekend.
Glasner, however, confirmed the substitution was merely a precaution, stating the player’s availability for the upcoming match.
“Marc was just planned before, because he couldn’t train for two-and-a-half weeks, he had the 90 minutes last week [against Wolves], and of course he should play and he will play against Manchester United,” Glasner said post-match.
He concluded: “That’s why we had to manage the minutes, so no issues with Marc.”
In less positive news, midfielder Will Hughes was withdrawn just past the half-hour mark after going down clutching his knee. Glasner admitted Hughes would need to be assessed but added: “It doesn’t look that bad.”
