Chivu: Liverpool’s quality remains despite Salah absence for UCL clash

Cristian Chivu insisted that Liverpool will “maintain a high level” of performance without Mohamed Salah for their Champions League clash, stating his concern is the “group” rather than the individual star.

According to a report from FotMob, Inter boss Cristian Chivu downplayed the impact of Mohamed Salah’s Champions League absence ahead of their Tuesday clash with Liverpool.

Salah was left out of the 19-man travelling squad after being benched for a third successive Premier League match, an incident where he suggested the club had “thrown him under the bus.”

Chivu acknowledged the player’s status, stating, “We all know what he [Salah] represents for Liverpool and for the world of football.”

Despite Salah being the Reds’ all-time top scorer in the Champions League, Chivu remains focused on Liverpool’s collective strength against his team.

He told reporters, “It’s not my concern. I know that they have players who can replace him, and that Liverpool will therefore maintain a high level as they always have done throughout their history.”

Chivu concluded by stressing, “We’re talking about teams, not individuals. That is why we have to worry about what the group does, not about individuals. They have a lot of quality.”
