Tottenham has been hit by a major injury blow after scans revealed that on-loan forward Randal Kolo Muani suffered a fractured jaw against Manchester United, an injury now considered “more serious than expected.”
According to The Standard reporting, Tottenham Hotspur has been dealt another significant injury blow as on-loan forward Randal Kolo Muani has been ruled out of action after scans revealed he suffered a fractured jaw during Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United.
Kolo Muani was substituted at half-time following the incident. Head coach Thomas Frank initially downplayed the severity of the issue, stating the problem was “nothing big,” but reports in France now claim the injury is “more serious than expected.”
The severity of the fractured jaw was confirmed when the French Football Federation announced the striker’s withdrawal from the upcoming international break. The Federation released a statement confirming the situation:
“Randal Kolo Muani will miss the international break which begins this Monday. The Tottenham Hotspur striker suffered a lower jaw injury on Saturday against Manchester United.
After consulting with Dr Franck Le Gall, who had previously spoken with his Tottenham counterpart, Didier Deschamps confirmed Randal Kolo Muani’s withdrawal.”
Tottenham now faces a nervous wait to determine the full extent of the sideline spell for Kolo Muani, who had recently impressed in the Champions League victory over Copenhagen.
The injury severely compounds Thomas Frank’s problems in attack, as the club is already without Dominic Solanke, who has not featured this season due to an ankle injury.
The loss of Kolo Muani leaves Richarlison as the only fit, recognized senior striker available to the Spurs manager, though Mathys Tel can provide cover through the middle.
Kolo Muani’s absence creates a major selection headache as Tottenham prepares for crucial post-international break fixtures, including the North London derby against Arsenal and a Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
