Como & Fabregas’ plan to integrate more Italians into squad

Como manager Cesc Fabregas is implementing a long-term plan to increase the number of Italian players in his squad by focusing on internal academy growth and patient youth integration.

Cesc Fabregas has revealed a long-term strategy to integrate more Italian players into Como’s foreign-heavy squad.

While the club currently relies on international talent, Fabregas and sporting director Ludi are prioritizing domestic recruitment and internal development.

Fabregas noted the difficulty of finding local prospects who fit his style, stating: “In Italy, if you play a young player and he doesn’t convince straight away, you take him out.”

The club is now leaning on its successful Primavera side to bridge the gap. Sitting top of their group, the Under-19s feature promising Italians like Lorenzo Bonsignori and Matteo Papaccioli.

Fabregas also signaled a future for midfielder Rispoli, currently on loan. He emphasized a patient approach to youth development, asserting: “If I believe in a young player, he plays at least seven or eight games.”
