Diogo Dalot expressed significant disappointment that Manchester United failed to preserve their lead against West Ham, attributing the draw to the team becoming “anxious” and losing control of the game after scoring.
According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot voiced his frustration after the team surrendered a lead to draw with West Ham.
Despite scoring the opening goal just before the hour mark, Dalot stated that the team became “anxious” and “more sloppy with the ball possession” afterward, missing a chance to move into a Champions League spot.
Dalot stressed that the team must find a solution to their inconsistency, especially when leading at home. He told Sky Sports:
“It shouldn’t be like this because we’re fighting 60 minutes to score a goal, when it happens you should keep doing the same things; even more control, longer possession so we can have more dominance…”
He added that losing the lead was “more our fault than credit to West Ham.”
The draw means United missed a “massive” chance to close the distance to the top four ahead of the “hectic festive period.”
