Deco says Barcelona not needing January transfer recruits

Deco has dismissed the need for new signings in the January transfer window. He believes Hansi Flick’s squad is strong enough, prioritizing contract renewals over external recruitment.

Barcelona’s sporting director has told media that the club will not be active in the winter market, insisting that the current roster is sufficient and that “renewals were the priority. Consolidating the team for the coming years.”

Despite speculation linking the club with defensive reinforcements and new forwards — as rumours have suggested possible interest in bolstering the back line or signing a center forward — Deco dismissed the urgency of such moves.

“We’re not in a bad position to make decisions in January. I don’t think it’s necessary to bring anyone in. Nor do I think anyone needs to leave,” he said.

He also addressed ongoing chatter around forward reinforcements, stating that no decisions have been taken regarding attacking additions, and underscoring continued confidence in current striker Robert Lewandowski.

“We shouldn’t be obsessed with the center forward. Lewandowski has given us a lot and can still give us more,” Deco added.
