Dembele and Yamal shine in FIFPRO World 11; Messi, Ronaldo misse out

The 2025 FIFPRO Men’s World 11 was unveiled, featuring a highly competitive selection voted for by professional players worldwide.

According to Goal reporting, the squad is highlighted by the inclusion of Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé and 18-year-old Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, but the major news is the omission of Inter Miami star Lionel Messi for the second consecutive year.

This exclusion ends Messi’s run of making the shortlist for 17 straight years until 2024. Although he was nominated and shortlisted this year, the Argentine failed to make the final team.

The World 11 is heavily dominated by Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain, who claim five spots: Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, Defenders Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes, and midfielders Vitinha and Ousmane Dembélé. Real Madrid and Barcelona each contributed two players.

The full squad, which Goal confirms is “composed of some of the brightest talents in Europe,” is:

Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Donnarumma (PSG)

Defenders: Achraf Hakimi (PSG), Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool), Nuno Mendes (PSG)

Midfielders: Vitinha (PSG), Pedri (Barcelona), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Cole Palmer (Chelsea)

Forwards: Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Ousmane Dembélé (PSG), Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid)

Other notable absentees who failed to crack the final XI despite being nominated include Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, the latter of whom led the Premier League in both goals and assists.
