The cup match, scheduled for February 3 at the Allianz Arena, pits the league’s first and second-placed teams against each other in what many are calling an “early finale.” Bayern will host the single-elimination tie.
Despite an emphatic 6-0 win for Bayern earlier this season, Leipzig is known for cup success, hoisting the DFB-Pokal trophy twice in the last five years.
Other quarterfinal fixtures include Bayer Leverkusen hosting St. Pauli, and Freiburg and Stuttgart facing 2. Bundesliga opposition.
