Everton winger Dwight McNeil’s £20 million move to Crystal Palace fell through in the final moments of the January transfer window.
Despite a submitted deal sheet and the player passing a medical, administrative delays at Palace prevented the paperwork’s completion.
The 26-year-old, who has recently fallen down the pecking order under David Moyes, now remains at Goodison Park until at least the summer.
McNeil’s partner, Megan Sharpley, criticized the “cruel” nature of the industry on Instagram, detailing the emotional toll of the failed move.
She highlighted the mental health impact of such uncertainty, stating, “To have prepared to move your entire life… for it to be torn away from you at the last second, with absolutely no explanation… has hurt more than I can say.”
