Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes is set to miss at least six weeks with a hamstring injury, a setback manager Eddie Howe described as a “massive blow” to their season.
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that captain Bruno Guimaraes faces a significant spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury against Tottenham.
The Brazilian midfielder is expected to be out until April, missing crucial fixtures including the Tyne-Wear derby and Champions League ties. Howe stated, “Massive blow for us at a key stage of the season. He’s devastated.”
The Magpies are also monitoring the fitness of Sven Botman and Yoane Wissa, though their conditions are thought to be less severe.
While Botman missed the 3-1 FA Cup win over Aston Villa due to a back issue, Howe remains hopeful for a quick return.
Regarding Guimaraes, however, Howe admitted there is no “miracle cure,” adding, “other players have to step up in his absence.”
