Endrick has finalized a loan move to Lyon to seek regular playing time just as Real Madrid loses star forward Kylian Mbappe to a significant knee injury ahead of their clash with Real Betis.
Brazilian wonderkid Endrick has officially joined Olympique Lyonnais on a six-month loan after struggling for minutes at Real Madrid under Xabi Alonso.
The 19-year-old was unveiled via a club video showing his medical exams and first interactions with technical director Matthieu Louis-Jean.
Seeking a starting role to secure his place in Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad, Endrick expressed his excitement, stating: “I’m really looking forward to training and playing. I’m very happy.”
The move featured a light-hearted exchange involving Real Madrid teammate Eduardo Camavinga, who messaged Endrick with a warning about Lyon’s local rivals, Saint-Etienne.
Camavinga cautioned the teenager against wearing their signature color, which Endrick relayed to his new club: “Camavinga told me about the colour of the Saint-Etienne jersey. Brother, you should know that for your team, Lyon, the eternal rival is Saint-Etienne, so never wear anything green.”
Meanwhile, Real Madrid faces a selection nightmare ahead of Sunday’s match against Real Betis following a serious knee injury to Kylian Mbappe.
The Frenchman, who has scored an incredible 29 goals in 24 games this season, is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks.
With Endrick already in France and Brahim Diaz away at the Africa Cup of Nations, the club is heavily reliant on academy graduate Gonzalo Garcia to fill the attacking void.
