This win marked Chelsea’s largest-ever margin of victory against the Spanish side in European competition.
According to a report from the official Chelsea website, Cucurella was instrumental in setting the tone for the night, ultimately earning the UEFA Player of the Match award. The deadlock was broken when the full-back delivered a wicked cross, which led to an own goal.
Fernandez, who provided an assist later in the game for Liam Delap’s goal, highlighted Cucurella’s positive influence both on and off the pitch.
