By happy coincidence, former Chelsea director of football Michael Emenalo was in town to see son Landon named in a Premier League squad for the first time.
Michael, now in the same role for the Saudi Pro League, happened to be in London on business on Landon’s big day and flew back to Riyadh on Sunday.
But it was no fluke that Emenalo junior, 17, was on the bench for the win over Liverpool.
Of course, it is the Blues’ rash of injuries in midfield and defence that has given the teenager the chance to train with the first team in recent weeks.
Yet it shows how highly thought of Emenalo is that he was chosen to be part of Chelsea’s biggest game of the season. (Sun)
