Eric Garcia laments Barcelona’s loss to Chelsea a ‘terrible night’

Eric Garcia expressed disappointment following Barcelona’s 3-0 Champions League loss to Chelsea, calling it a ‘terrible night’ with issues in pressing and competitiveness.

According to a report from iNFOnews.ca, Barcelona defender Eric García offered a blunt assessment of the team’s performance following their comprehensive 3-0 loss to Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The defeat saw the Catalan giants struggle, especially after being reduced to ten men in the first half following Ronald Araujo’s red card.

García lamented the team’s inability to cope with the opposition’s intensity, stating that the result was a consequence of failing to control the match’s core elements.

“Chelsea was putting us under pressure and we didn’t adjust well,” Barcelona defender Eric García said. “We had to run after the ball the whole time.”

The 10-man side struggled to contain Chelsea, who were dominant in midfield. García stressed the need for a stronger mentality going forward:

“We need to be more competitive in these types of matches. The duels, second balls… if you don’t make yourself strong, it’s impossible to win.”

The loss, which was sealed by a beautiful strike from Chelsea’s Estevão, means Barcelona, currently fifth in the league phase standings, failed to secure an automatic top-eight spot in the competition.
