Manchester City presenter Faraaz ‘FG’ Ghaffur describes Erling Haaland as a ‘big kid’ off the pitch, respectful and funny, while also noting his significant improvement in overall play beyond just goal-scoring.
Erling Haaland, the Manchester City striker who has been “on fire for Manchester City this season,” is just a “big kid” behind the scenes, according to a colleague at the club.
According to a report from The Mirror, Faraaz “FG” Ghaffur, who works for City as a presenter, offered a glimpse into the Norwegian forward’s personality away from the pitch, stating: “Everything you see with Erling is what you get.”
Since arriving in 2022, the 25-year-old striker has been a revelation, setting a new Premier League goal record in his first campaign. This year, he continues his prolific form with 14 league goals and five in the Champions League.
Speaking on In The Mixer, FG emphasized Haaland’s positive demeanor, even after poor performances: “He could have had a game where, this is probably only even last season, he didn’t play well. You see him hounded by the media.
But he’s just a big kid. All he wants to do is have fun. He’s very respectful to everyone.” FG also noted: “He’s a great guy. He’s very funny as well. Unbelievable player.”
The presenter believes Haaland is still developing and could become an even better goalscorer. He added that Haaland seems “more relaxed” this year and is “doing his side hustles and stuff and he’s enjoying himself. If he carries on smiling, it could be dangerous.”
FG specifically highlighted the striker’s improvement in possession: “I think when I say do more it’s not so much in terms of goalscoring, it is about what he’s doing when he’s got possession of the ball and off the ball. It’s so much better this year already.
He’s so much better on the ball and he’s involved in the link-up play.
