Manchester City midfielder Rodri has been hit with an FA misconduct charge and a potential ban after suggesting refereeing bias following a controversial draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Football Association has charged Manchester City’s Rodri with misconduct following his comments after a 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
The midfielder faces potential suspension for questioning official neutrality. The FA stated: “It’s alleged that the midfielder acted in an improper manner… by making comments that imply bias and/or question the integrity of a match official,” citing a breach of Rule 3.1.
The frustration stems from a Dominic Solanke goal that stood despite a VAR check for a foul on Marc Guehi.
Rodri remarked: “I know we won too much and the people don’t want us to win but the referee has to be neutral and for me honestly, it’s not fair.”
He has until February 18 to respond before an independent panel decides his punishment.
