The woman said she felt unwell and entered a restroom with a friend who remained outside. Inside, she alleges a 25-year-old man, employed as a stadium restroom cleaner, sexually assaulted her.
The man is now accused of sexual assault by Italian authorities. According to the report, the cleaner defended himself, saying “he approached her to help her.”
The incident occurred on Sunday night, when Italy lost the match 4-1 but had already secured its place in the World Cup qualifying play-off stage next spring. The allegation has prompted an investigation into the cleaner’s conduct at the stadium.
