Bruno Fernandes surpassed David Beckham’s single-season Premier League assist record for Manchester United during a 3-1 win over Aston Villa, while Gary Neville warned that the departing Casemiro will be “very difficult to replace.”
Bruno Fernandes made history at Old Trafford on Sunday, recording his 16th Premier League assist of the season to eclipse David Beckham’s 1999/00 club record.
Fernandes provided a pinpoint corner for Casemiro’s opener before a “beautiful pass” set up Matheus Cunha.
Gary Neville, watching the Portuguese captain’s masterclass, remarked, “Bruno Fernandes, his assists and his contributions towards goals are a joke.”
Despite the victory, Neville issued a warning to INEOS regarding Casemiro, who intends to leave this summer.
After the Brazilian’s seventh league goal, Neville noted: “Whilst they might replace him positionally in midfield, he’s going to be very difficult to replace in both boxes because he is sensational getting first contact on headers.”
Fans responded by chanting “one more year” to the departing midfielder.
