FIFA and Adidas unveiled the official ball for the 2026 World Cup, named Trionda, in New York, with its design and name inspired by the unity of the three host nations and the tournament’s new 48-team format.
The official ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, named Trionda, was unveiled at an event in New York on Thursday. The ball was designed by German manufacturer Adidas, which has provided the official World Cup balls since the 1970 tournament.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed his enthusiasm at the reveal. “I am delighted and proud to present the Trionda,” Infantino said.
The name and design of the ball were inspired by the first World Cup to be hosted by three countries (Canada, Mexico, and the United States) and featuring 48 competing teams. The ball incorporates red, blue, and green colors, and its design includes iconography from each host nation: maple leaves from Canada, the eagle from Mexico, and stars from the United States. A prominent triangle within the design symbolizes the unity of the three hosting nations.
