Fulham beat Wycombe on penalties to reach EFL Cup last eight

Fulham reached the EFL Cup quarter-finals after beating Wycombe 5-4 on penalties, with Issa Diop scoring the winner following a 1-1 draw in normal time.

Fulham advanced to the EFL Cup quarter-finals after defeating League One side Wycombe Wanderers 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at Adams Park on Tuesday night.

Cauley Woodrow stunned his former club with a fourth-minute opener for Wycombe, firing low from 20 yards. But Josh King equalised three minutes after the restart, flicking in his first senior goal from a Kevin corner. Despite Fulham dominating possession, Wycombe’s goalkeeper Will Norris remained resolute, forcing the tie into a shootout.

Fulham converted their first four penalties before Ryan Sessegnon and Jonah Kusi-Asare saw their efforts saved by Norris. However, goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte produced heroics of his own, denying Ewan Henderson, Fred Onyedinma, and Donnell McNeilly.

Defender Issa Diop eventually settled the contest in sudden death, sealing a dramatic 5-4 win and sending Fulham into the last eight for only the sixth time in their history.

The result ends Fulham’s four-game losing streak and sustains their pursuit of a first major trophy in their 146-year existence.
