Future Chelsea signing Emmanuel Emegha has sustained a significant injury setback at Strasbourg, delaying his return to action by an estimated six weeks.
Chelsea-bound striker Emmanuel Emegha is set for an extended spell on the sidelines following a “muscle injury” complication reported by L’Equipe.
The Dutch international, who signed a seven-year deal with the Blues last year, was nearing a return before this latest blow.
Currently serving as Strasbourg’s captain, the 22-year-old’s absence is a major loss for the French side as they navigate the remainder of the season.
The injury timing is particularly frustrating given Emegha’s impressive form, having netted seven goals in eleven appearances this term.
Despite the setback, he is still expected to join Liam Rosenior’s squad this summer to compete with Liam Delap and João Pedro.
Reports noted: “The 22-year-old hasn’t played since picking up a muscle injury in December, and it’s thought he was close to a return.”
