Former striker Gabby Agbonlahor has heavily criticized Hugo Ekitike’s performance and Arne Slot’s tactical decisions following Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Hugo Ekitike’s lackluster display during Liverpool’s toothless quarter-final defeat in Paris.
The pundit accused the forward of failing to show effort against his former club as pressure mounts on manager Arne Slot.
“Ekitike was an absolute disgrace, and we’re big fans of him,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT. “He didn’t turn up, he didn’t try, he was lazy.”
The criticism extended to Slot’s decision to leave Mohamed Salah on the bench despite the deficit.
Agbonlahor questioned the squad’s commitment, noting, “It’s not looking good for Arne Slot. You’re starting to look at some of these players and you’re saying, ‘are you really fighting for the manager?’”
Slot later defended the move, claiming he preferred to save Salah’s energy during a defensive phase.
