NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has officially joined the ownership group of Women’s Super League champions Chelsea, partnering with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian to expand his global sports investment portfolio.
NBA legend Giannis Antetokounmpo has acquired a minority stake in Chelsea Women, joining a high-profile ownership group that includes Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
The Milwaukee Bucks star announced the partnership late Saturday, expressing his commitment to elevating women’s sports.
This move follows Ohanian’s 10% acquisition in May 2025, which valued the London club at a record-breaking $265 million.
The “Greek Freak” is no stranger to football investments, having already purchased stakes in MLS side Nashville SC and MLB’s Milwaukee Brewers.
Despite being a lifelong Arsenal supporter, Antetokounmpo’s latest financial venture aligns him with the Blues’ mission to become “America’s favorite WSL team.”
His arrival comes during a pivotal week where he also partnered with the prediction platform Kalshi.
Chelsea faces a challenging period on the pitch as they travel to Tottenham this Sunday.
Currently sitting third in the WSL with 27 points—12 behind leaders Manchester City—the Blues have struggled with recent back-to-back league defeats.
While manager Sonia Bompastor recently extended her contract until 2030, the team must navigate significant injury absences and a looming exit for star Catarina Macario.
