Graham Potter has been named the new head coach of the Sweden national team, marking his return to management after his recent exit from West Ham.
The announcement confirms his move into international football, with his immediate task being to guide the Scandinavian side to qualification for the World Cup next summer.
Speaking on his appointment, the former Brighton and Chelsea boss expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating:
“I am very honoured by the task, but also incredibly inspired. Sweden has fantastic players who deliver in the world’s best leagues week after week.
My task will be to create the right conditions so that we as a team can perform at the highest level and lead Sweden to the World Cup next summer.”
Potter takes over a talented squad as he returns to the dugout following his brief tenure and subsequent sacking from the Premier League club.
He now aims to replicate his club success on the international stage with his first national team post.
