Erling Haaland struck twice in quick succession to hand Manchester City a 2-0 win over Everton and lift Pep Guardiola’s side back to the top of the Premier League.
After a quiet first half, Haaland broke the deadlock on 58 minutes with a powerful header from Nico O’Reilly’s cross. The Norwegian then doubled City’s lead five minutes later, turning home from a Savinho lay-off to secure the points.
The goals took Haaland’s tally for the season to 23 in 13 matches for club and country, extending his scoring run to 11 straight games. Everton had frustrated City earlier on, with Jordan Pickford producing key saves to deny Savinho and Jeremy Doku.
Haaland, now just four short of 100 Premier League goals, was denied a hat-trick late on by Pickford, but his clinical brace was enough to see City reclaim top spot.
