Hansi Flick confirms Ronald Araujo absence for Atlético clash

Hansi Flick confirmed Ronald Araujo will miss Barcelona’s match against Atlético Madrid due to a personal matter, following his recent red card against Chelsea and a period of uncertainty surrounding his fitness.

According to a report from SempreBarça, Ronald Araujo will be unavailable for Barcelona’s next match as he recovers from a stomach virus.

Araujo missed Friday’s training session and will not take part in the game, as confirmed by coach Hansi Flick at his pre-match presser. “He has a stomach virus. He’s out of training today and will also miss tomorrow’s match,” Flick said.

The defender’s absence comes just days after a difficult spell for the squad — Araujo was sent off in the Champions League defeat to Chelsea F.C..

According to SempreBarça, the club opted to rest him not only to allow recovery from illness, but also to offer him a mental reset after the challenging week.

With Araujo ruled out, Barcelona are expected to rearrange their central defence, potentially entrusting younger or less-experienced players to fill the void.
