Harry Kane moved within ten goals of Robert Lewandowski’s single-season Bundesliga scoring record after netting in Bayern Munich’s dominant 4-0 home victory over Union Berlin on Saturday.
Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to 12 points with a clinical performance against Union Berlin.
Michael Olise opened the scoring before Serge Gnabry secured a brace. Harry Kane added a third, bringing his season tally to 31 goals with seven games remaining.
“It’s still possible, I just have to keep doing what I’m doing,” Kane stated regarding the record.
The victory prepares Vincent Kompany’s side for their upcoming Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen’s top-four hopes stumbled following a dramatic 3-3 draw with bottom-placed Heidenheim.
Despite leading twice, Leverkusen conceded an 85th-minute equalizer. “I’m speechless,” admitted goalkeeper Mark Flekken, as the result left them four points adrift of the final Champions League qualification spot.
