Harry Kane make English history with Champions League half-century

Harry Kane became the first Englishman to reach 50 Champions League goals as Bayern Munich brushed aside Atalanta 4-1 to secure a quarter-final spot against Real Madrid.

Harry Kane reached a historic milestone Wednesday, becoming the first English player to net 50 Champions League goals.

Returning from a calf injury, the striker scored twice in a 4-1 second-leg rout of Atalanta at the Allianz Arena.

The victory completed a staggering 10-2 aggregate win, setting up a highly anticipated quarter-final clash against holders Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu next month.

The night also belonged to 16-year-old Filip Pavić, who became Bayern’s youngest-ever Champions League player.

Entering as a 72nd-minute substitute, Pavić is the first player born in 2010 to feature in the competition.

Manager Vincent Kompany praised the collective effort, noting the youngster’s debut was “deserved” following impressive training performances.

Bayern now look to end a nine-match winless streak against their upcoming Spanish opponents.
