Tottenham Hotspur’s injury situation is showing signs of easing, yet the club has confirmed a significant, albeit short-term, blow to their midfield following the weekend’s loss to Chelsea.
The primary concern is young midfielder Lucas Bergvall, who was substituted less than ten minutes into the derby after taking a ball to the face.
Manager Thomas Frank confirmed the change was required under strict medical protocols. “There was a concussion. He couldn’t stay on and I think the medical team did a good job in that instance,” the manager stated.
Adhering to the mandatory minimum 12-day recovery period, Bergvall will be unavailable until after the November international break, making the North London Derby against Arsenal on November 23rd his potential return target.
In more encouraging news, two key players are rapidly approaching their comebacks. Striker Dominic Solanke, recovering from minor surgery for a niggling ankle issue, is making good progress but will not be rushed back before the break.
Frank emphasized a cautious approach: “Very aware that we want him back,” said Frank. “Hopefully touch wood have him back and no setbacks. We are very aware of doing it the right way. So it’s going in the right direction.
He’ll not be available before the international break – that’s the status now.” Solanke is expected back in late November or early December.
Crucially, defender Radu Dragusin is nearing the end of his lengthy recovery from an ACL injury sustained back in January.
The Romanian centre-back is now fully integrated into first-team training. Frank confirmed his status: “He’s fully integrated into training now… But he is definitely getting closer to being involved,” indicating Dragusin may target the post-break Arsenal clash for his long-awaited return to competitive action.
