Hull City defender Semi Ajayi is preparing for a crucial Africa Cup of Nations round-of-16 encounter as Nigeria faces Mozambique on Monday night.
After a perfect group stage campaign featuring three consecutive victories over Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda, the Super Eagles enter the knockout phase in formidable form.
Ajayi has been a central figure in this success, helping the national side move past the disappointment of failing to qualify for the upcoming World Cup.
The Tigers’ star enjoyed a standout start to the tournament, playing every minute of Nigeria’s first two matches and scoring the opening goal in their 2-1 victory against Tanzania.
Although he was rested for the final group fixture on Tuesday to manage his fitness, Ajayi is expected to return to the starting lineup at the Fez Stadium.
