“Hurt us a lot” – Enzo Fernandez takes swipe at Chelsea board over Enzo Maresca exit

Enzo Fernandez has publicly criticized Chelsea’s leadership for sacking Enzo Maresca mid-season, claiming the decision destroyed the team’s identity and deeply impacted the dressing room.

Enzo Fernandez has launched a scathing attack on the Chelsea board following the mid-season departure of manager Enzo Maresca.

The midfielder admitted the Italian’s January exit “hurt us a lot” after Maresca delivered two trophies and a Champions League return.

Despite a successful tenure, the relationship between Maresca and the ownership reportedly fractured in December over a lack of defensive recruitment following Levi Colwill’s season-ending injury.

The Argentine international expressed confusion regarding the club’s management, telling TUDN, “I don’t understand it either. Sometimes there are things that we as players don’t understand.”

Fernandez emphasized that Maresca had established a “clear identity” that was abruptly severed.

While interim boss Liam Rosenior insists star players remain committed, Chelsea now trail leaders Arsenal by 22 points following a disappointing Champions League exit to PSG.
