‘I have to keep up!’ — Haaland on chasing Kane and Mbappé

Erling Haaland scored again for Manchester City in a 1–0 win over Brentford and admitted feeling the pressure from Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé in the Golden Boot race.

Erling Haaland continued his fine form as Manchester City edged Brentford 1–0 in the Premier League on Sunday. The Norwegian striker struck in the ninth minute, powering past the defence to slot home Josko Gvardiol’s pass for his ninth league goal and 18th in 11 games for club and country. City dominated early, though midfielder Rodri was forced off injured. Brentford’s Igor Thiago came close to equalising, but Gianluigi Donnarumma made a key save. The win marked Pep Guardiola’s 250th Premier League victory, achieved in a record 349 matches, lifting City to fifth on the table.

Reflecting on the European Golden Boot race, Haaland said: “Don’t forget Mbappé as well… They’re doing amazing, so I need to keep up. I have never felt better than I do now.” Kane has 11 goals for Bayern, while Mbappé leads LaLiga with nine, leaving the trio locked in an early-season scoring contest.
