Inter Miami CF secured their ticket to host MLS Cup 2025 at Chase Stadium by cruising to a dominant 5-1 rout of New York City FC in the Eastern Conference Final, a victory that midfielder Ian Fray called “unreal” and a “dream come true.”
According to a report from MLSSoccer.com, Inter Miami CF will host the Philip F. Anschutz Trophy match on December 6 against Western Conference champions Vancouver Whitecaps FC after their commanding victory in the Eastern Conference Final.
The Herons delivered their third straight blowout victory of the Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs after erupting for three second-half goals to rout New York City FC 5-1 at Chase Stadium on Saturday.
The victory means the club, built for these occasions with goals of “making history,” achieved a major objective.
Midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, who joined the Herons in July, shared his happiness post-match: “We’re working with a clear idea: to make history with this club. This is an extremely happy moment.”
The Herons’ offense was led by a Tadeo Allende hat trick, with additional goals coming from Mateo Silvetti and Telasco Segovia.
Defender Ian Fray, who has been with the club since the beginning, reflected on the transformation, noting how the stadium is now “full, sold out, everyone’s chanting.”
He added: “to see something like this, to have us go to the final, is unreal. It’s a dream come true.”
However, head coach Javier Mascherano reminded reporters that the ambition is not yet complete:
“Today will go down in club history as the day we become conference champions. This isn’t a minor detail. But the most important thing, the main dish, is on Saturday.”
Managing owner Jorge Mas echoed the sentiment, telling the crowd, “This is only one down. We have one to go. Uno más.”
