Jacob Ramsey red card verdict as Newcastle and Premier League told Man Utd mistake made

Football pundits and manager Eddie Howe have condemned the “harsh” second yellow card given to Jacob Ramsey for simulation during Newcastle United’s dramatic 2-1 victory against Manchester United.

Premier League referee Peter Bankes is facing intense criticism following his decision to send off Jacob Ramsey during Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Manchester United.

Ramsey received a second yellow card for simulation, despite replays suggesting he merely lost his balance.

On Match of the Day 2, Micah Richards argued, “He just loses balance, it’s as simple as that. It’s not a second yellow card.”

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe joined the chorus of disapproval, labeling the dismissal “really harsh” and insisting the midfielder was not seeking a foul.

Howe remarked, “I don’t think he’s looking for a penalty there.”

Despite the disadvantage, the Magpies triumphed through William Osula’s late winner, with Howe praising the squad’s resilience in what he described as an “amazing night” at St James’ Park.
