Jamie Vardy has become the first Englishman to win the Serie A Player of the Month award, recognized for his performance and “indomitable spirit” at Cremonese despite his now-famous unconventional diet and limited goal tally during November.
Jamie Vardy has made history by becoming the first English footballer ever to win the Serie A Player of the Month award, securing the November honour with Cremonese.
The award is decided by a combination of fan votes and advanced statistical data, which determined Vardy as the winner over players like Lautaro Martinez and Mike Maignan.
Despite the prestigious recognition, the veteran forward only scored once in the league in November, though he followed it up with a brace against Bologna on December 1, helping Cremonese climb the table.
Cremonese coach Davide Nicola revealed that Vardy, 38, continues his famous routine, sharing that the forward persists with his unique diet of omelettes, Red Bull, and port.
Explaining the decision, Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo praised Vardy: “Jamie Vardy is truly a player from another era… [he] best express[es] the romance of football.”
The league highlighted that the award’s criteria include advanced data analysis, which assesses movement without the ball and contribution to team efficiency, indicating his value goes beyond goals scored.
