John Terry taunts Arsenal after failure to match PL record

John Terry rubs the salt in Arsenal’s wounds as they fall short in matching Chelsea’s Premier League defensive record under Jose Mourinho – with 15 games still to play

Chelsea legend John Terry took to social media to celebrate as Arsenal’s defeat to Manchester United officially ended their hopes of breaking the Premier League’s all-time defensive record.

Jose Mourinho’s 2004-05 Chelsea side famously conceded only 15 goals across an entire season, a benchmark Terry admitted he was “actually a little bit worried now” about losing earlier in the campaign.

However, after the Gunners shipped three goals in a chaotic home loss to United, their season tally rose to 17, ensuring the historic Chelsea record remains untouched for at least another year.

Reflecting on the result that also dented Mikel Arteta’s title ambitions, Terry posted on Sunday night that “the record is safe for another year,” effectively rubbing salt in the wounds of an Arsenal side that had been on track to make history as recently as November.
