Juventus commenced their Serie A campaign on a positive note, securing a 2-0 victory against Parma at the Allianz Stadium. The match, however, wasn't without its challenges, as Juventus had to navigate the final stages with only 10 players.
Jonathan David marked his Serie A debut with a goal, while Dusan Vlahovic, coming off the bench, sealed the win for the Bianconeri. David's goal arrived in the 59th minute, capitalizing on a low cross from Kenan Yildiz, who had previously set up the Canadian international with a similar opportunity. The home side dominated the early exchanges, pinning Parma back in their own half with wave after wave of attacks.
Parma, however, threatened with a long-range effort from Lautaro Valenti, testing the Juventus goalkeeper. The visitors then received a boost when Andrea Cambiaso was shown a red card in the 83rd minute for an off-the-ball incident involving Mathias Lovik. Cambiaso was adjudged to have swung an arm, leaving the referee with no option but to send him off. The sending-off prompted Massimiliano Allegri to reshuffle his pack, bringing on fresh legs to see out the victory.
Yet, Parma's hopes were short-lived, as Vlahovic, who had been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the summer, made an immediate impact after coming on as a substitute. The Serbian striker has been linked with a move away from Juve all summer and is a target for AC Milan. Any lingering doubts about his commitment to the Juventus cause were immediately quashed after he scored the decisive second goal to put the game beyond Parma.
Just four minutes after replacing David, Vlahovic found himself in the right place to convert another assist from Yildiz. The goal cemented the victory for Igor Tudor's team, who recorded 2.45 expected goals compared to Parma's 0.6. The win ensures that Juventus starts the 2025-26 season on a winning note, with maximum points in their opening game.

Jonathan David's goalscoring record in the opening matches of league seasons is impressive. He has now scored in each of his last four first appearances of a league season, a streak that began during his time with Lille.
Furthermore, David's goal makes him only the second Canadian player to score in Serie A, following in the footsteps of Tajon Buchanan, who scored for Inter against Frosinone on May 10, 2024.
Kenan Yildiz's contribution to Juventus has been significant. Since the beginning of March, he has been involved in 11 goals in all competitions, more than any other Serie A player during that period. The youngster continues to impress with his creativity and eye for goal.
The victory was a hard-fought one, but ultimately Juventus' superior quality shone through. The team will now look to build on this positive start as they aim to challenge for the Serie A title this season.
