Kahramaa pledges uninterrupted services for FIFA Arab Cup

The Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) has announced its “comprehensive operational and strategic preparations” to support the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, ensuring the “reliability of the State’s vital infrastructure” for the tournament.

According to a report from The Peninsula, these preparations are implemented through “integrated plans” spanning the sectors of electricity, water, conservation and energy efficiency, district cooling services, and renewable energy.

The announcement aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy 2024–2030.

H.E. Eng. Abdullah bin Ali Al-Deyab, President of KAHRAMAA, stated:

“KAHRAMAA continues to advance the readiness of the State’s vital infrastructure in line with Qatar’s aspirations to host major sporting events, contributing to a model organizational experience built on the highest standards of efficiency and sustainability.”

In the electricity sector, KAHRAMAA has enhanced the readiness of high- and medium-voltage transmission substations, which “undergo comprehensive preventive-maintenance programs designed to ensure full reliability with zero downtime.”

Eng. Ahmad Ali Alkuwari, Sector Director of Electricity Networks Affairs, stated:

“Our teams have enhanced the readiness of transmission and distribution substations, activated advanced load-monitoring systems, and carried out comprehensive protection-system testing to ensure safe and continuous operations.”

The water sector relies on a “robust infrastructure” that includes large-capacity strategic reservoirs, ensuring “supply stability” and managing high demand.

Furthermore, the corporation is supporting the tournament’s sustainability through its solar power plants, including the Al Kharsaah Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 800 MW.
