Barcelona are reportedly targeting Harry Kane to replace Robert Lewandowski, who has revealed he will make a decision on his future very soon.
Barcelona is lining up Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane as the ideal replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is nearing the end of his contract and says he is “calm” but will decide his future “soon,” despite feeling invigorated by the young squad.
Barcelona is actively planning for life beyond their 37-year-old star striker, Robert Lewandowski, whose contract with the La Liga champions is set to expire at the end of the current season. The club is reportedly preparing for a summer transfer window without the prolific Pole.
According to a report from The Mirror, the Catalan giants regard Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane as the prime candidate to succeed the veteran striker.
By June, Kane, 32, is expected to have just one year remaining on his current deal with the German club, a situation that will activate a significant £57million release clause.
The report indicates that while Kane’s former club, Tottenham Hotspur, holds a first refusal option, Barcelona is reportedly set to make a decisive move for the England captain, who previously replaced Lewandowski at Bayern.
However, the report also notes that Kane has been on record expressing openness to extending his contract with the German side, adding a layer of uncertainty.
Meanwhile, Lewandowski has contributed to the transfer speculation by revealing he is yet to make a final decision on his next career path. Speaking to TVP Sport, the striker stated:
“I’ll soon be ready to decide which path I want to take and I’ll see what my options are. I’m calm. I don’t know where I’ll be or what I’ll want to do in a few months. I don’t have to do anything and I’m in no hurry.”
Despite admitting his career is “nearing its end,” Lewandowski feels energised at Barcelona, having recently scored a hat-trick against Celta Vigo. He added:
“They give me a real boost of energy. I feel very comfortable among them… I’m older than the parents of some of my team-mates. They treat me like a father. It’s funny, but very positive.”
