Jurgen Klopp set for Anfield return in legends match

Liverpool Legends will face Borussia Dortmund Legends in a charity match at Anfield on March 28, 2026, with proceeds aiding the LFC Foundation and BVB Foundation.

Jurgen Klopp is set for a potential sensational return to Anfield following the announcement of a charity match between Liverpool Legends and Borussia Dortmund Legends in 2026, according to Liverpool.com reporting suggest.

The highly-anticipated fixture is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Anfield, uniting the two European giants famously linked by both the iconic manager and the anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Klopp’s presence is strongly hinted at given his influential position as the first-ever honorary ambassador of the LFC Foundation, which is hosting the charitable event.

Klopp’s legacy spans both clubs, having famously guided Dortmund to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2010/11 and 2011/12 before his nine-year tenure on Merseyside, where he secured the Champions League and ended the 30-year league title wait. His association makes this reunion particularly meaningful.

Reflecting on his continued involvement with the charitable organisation, Klopp previously stated: “The LFC Foundation does an incredible job in the community, both in the Liverpool City Region and beyond.

I am really proud to continue my work with them and be named the first ever LFC Foundation honorary ambassador.”

The match, presented by AXA, aims to raise significant funds for the LFC Foundation and Forever Reds, with proceeds also benefiting the BVB Foundation in Germany. Tickets are priced starting at £29.50 for adults, with hospitality options available for those wishing to attend.

LFC Foundation chief executive, Matt Parish, highlighted the significance of the event, stating: “Our annual legends game is always a special occasion, and we’re delighted to be welcoming BVB to Anfield.

The support from fans year after year enables us to reach even more people in the Liverpool City Region and abroad, improving health, championing learning and developing employability skills.”

The foundation’s ambitious goal is to assist 500,000 people per season by 2030, a mission that these Legends matches, which have generated over $11 million previously, continue to bolster.
