Manchester United’s upcoming clash with Liverpool is dominated by headlines about squad depth, as club legend Paul Scholes blasted three senior players as physically incapable of coping with the league, while a former coach claimed new signing Senne Lammens “has all the capabilities to become the best in the world.”
Manchester United’s inconsistent start under manager Ruben Amorim is dominating headlines ahead of their massive Premier League clash against rivals Liverpool.
The biggest praise is reserved for new goalkeeper Senne Lammens. A former coach, Hayk Milkon, believes the Belgian could become the world’s best, pointing to his calm and professional conduct.
Milkon said Lammens’ grounded nature is exemplified by his simple dress and demeanour: “This ‘boringness’ is just the way Senne is, he’s really calm and no excesses. He focuses on what he needs to focus on and is open with the people around him. He keeps his feet on the ground.”
Milkon added that he was not surprised when United called, stating Lammens “is a potential No.1 for the Red Devils – the Belgium national team.”
Meanwhile, club legend Paul Scholes has identified three veterans he claims “can’t cope with Premier League football.” Scholes called out Casemiro, Luke Shaw, and Harry Maguire, criticising their physical condition as they enter the twilight of their careers.
“Their bodies are not athletic enough, they’re not strong enough, they’re not quick enough,” Scholes stated, adding a stark warning: “Manchester United are carrying two or three players that are just not capable of living with it.”
Amidst the criticism, centre-back Matthijs de Ligt defended manager Amorim’s system, despite the 3-4-2-1 formation receiving negative feedback. De Ligt defended the manager’s tactical approach by highlighting its flexibility:
“It’s always easy to say ‘system this, system that’. But, in the end, it’s always adaptable in the game,” he said. “We have to find a way to get everything right and make everything happen.”
