According to a report from Barca Blaugranes, Barcelona president Joan Laporta firmly rejected speculation that Lionel Messi might return to the club on a short‑term loan.
“Out of respect for Messi, our players, and our members, it’s not the time to speculate with unrealistic scenarios,” Laporta told Catalunya Radio.
The comment comes amid renewed fan and media chatter about the possibility of the Argentine icon re‑joining the Catalan side temporarily.
Laporta made clear that while Messi remains “his home”, Barcelona will not entertain premature or fanciful return stories.
He emphasised that the club’s focus lies on its current squad, long‑term projects and the upcoming reopening of the renovated Spotify Camp Nou.
The president’s message was unequivocal: the moment for speculation is over, and the club will respect both its members and its legacy by ending these rumours.
With Messi’s departure still a sensitive chapter at Barça, Laporta is keen to guard the institution’s stability and ensure that any future engagement with the player is handled properly and at the right time.
