Laporta rebukes Real Madrid attacks, says hostility is “getting out of hand”

Joan Laporta has accused Real Madrid of using the Negreira case to mask their own struggles, warning that the escalating tension between the two clubs is “getting out of hand.”

Barcelona President Joan Laporta has issued a sharp rebuttal to recent accusations from Real Madrid regarding the ongoing Negreira case.

Speaking at an event in Terrassa alongside Dani Olmo, Laporta claimed that the hierarchy in the Spanish capital is attempting to “divert attention from their shortcomings” by attacking the Catalan club.

He emphasized that the institution has successfully turned its financial and sporting situation around, restoring joy to the fanbase.

The Blaugrana chief suggested that Real Madrid’s persistent criticism stems from an inability to tolerate Barcelona’s current success, including their four-point lead at the top of La Liga.

Laporta warned that the rhetoric from Madrid has escalated to an unacceptable level, stating: “I’ll have time to talk about this later. Not here and now, but more calmly, because I think it’s getting out of hand.”

He vowed to remain vigilant in protecting the club’s image.

Closing his remarks, Laporta called on supporters to remain united against external pressure, asserting that “loving Barça means defending the club against everything and everyone.”

While addressing the registration hurdles faced earlier this season, he expressed high hopes for the team’s current momentum.

Relations between the two Spanish giants appear to be at an all-time low as both presidents continue to trade public barbs over legal and institutional disputes.
