‘Let’s not speak about that’: Eze deflects question on Tottenham move

Eberechi Eze playfully shut down a question about his near-move to Tottenham Hotspur after scoring a hat-trick in the 4–1 derby win for Arsenal.

According to a report from Goal.com, after netting a stunning hat-trick in Arsenal’s 4–1 demolition of Tottenham, Eberechi Eze was asked by a Sky Sports reporter whether he could have been wearing the Lilywhites’ colours — to which he replied, “Let’s not speak about that,” with a grin.

The 27-year-old England international had been on the brink of joining Spurs during the summer, but Arsenal swooped in to secure his signature from Crystal Palace.

Instead of revisiting the drama of his switch, Eze focused on his performance: “That’s a good [feeling],” he said of the emphatic derby win.

Eze also shared how much the match meant to him personally: “Enjoyable day, happy to help the team and to win today was special … I prayed for it … I prayed for a hat-trick so I am grateful to God.”

He credited his family’s presence at the Emirates with making the moment even more emotional: “All my family is here again, which makes it even more special for me.”

When asked to pick his favourite of the three goals, Eze admitted he struggled to choose: “They were all good … Maybe the second one … the timing of it … I don’t know … words can’t explain this one today.”
