Chelsea striker Liam Delap overcame an embarrassing goal-line blunder to provide three assists in his side’s 4-0 FA Cup fourth-round victory over Hull City.
Chelsea striker Liam Delap admitted he was “stupid” after failing to convert a golden opportunity during Friday’s FA Cup win at Hull City.
Tasked with leading the line, Delap charged down a goalkeeper clearance that struck the crossbar and bounced on the line.
Expecting a goal, he hesitated to finish the rebound, later confessing, “I should have just put it in.”
Despite the blunder, the summer signing redeemed himself by registering a hat-trick of assists. He teed up Pedro Neto’s opener and provided further goals for Estevao and Neto’s second.
Delap, who returned to his former club for the tie, praised teammate Neto as an “incredible player” and expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “We showed we can battle and also play.”
