Liverpool goalkeeper given six-game ban over racism allegation

Liverpool manager Gareth Taylor has confirmed that Rafaela Borggrafe accepted a six-game sanction following a Football Association investigation that began in September, with the 25-year-old German having already served five matches after an alleged racist remark during the club’s pre-season training camp. Borggrafe, who joined from SC Freiburg in the summer and has made three first-team appearances, will miss Sunday’s Women’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against London Bees, while also being enrolled in an FA education programme, after Liverpool reported the incident in line with FA protocols and awaited the outcome. “The situation is the situation. The team and the club acted in the appropriate way,” Taylor said. “We supported the FA. It has dragged on a bit, which has been frustrating for everyone involved, particularly Rafaela… We all can move on.”
