PSG head coach Luis Enrique has shut down public criticism from Ousmane Dembélé regarding the team’s lack of unity, dismissing the forward’s post-match comments as emotional and insignificant.
The internal atmosphere at Paris Saint-Germain has grown tense after Ousmane Dembélé publicly questioned the squad’s commitment following a 3-1 defeat to Rennes.
Dembélé, who won the 2025 Ballon d’Or, claimed the team has become too individualistic, stating, “If everyone plays for themselves on the field, this is not going to work.”
He urged his teammates to remember the collective spirit of the previous campaign, noting, “Last season we put the club, the shield, and Paris Saint-Germain before thinking about ourselves.”
Luis Enrique responded with characteristic bluntness during his post-match press conference, refusing to validate the criticism.
“These statements are worthless. They are the result of anger after a game, and I think that is clear,” the Spaniard remarked, adding that post-match reactions from both players and coaches carry little weight.
Reaffirming his authority, he declared he would never allow a player to stand above the institution, concluding, “We have nothing to lose.”
