Manchester United are reportedly preparing to offer midfielder Kobbie Mainoo a lucrative new contract, fueled by the significant financial flexibility gained from the confirmed summer departure of Casemiro.
The Brazilian veteran’s exit is expected to free up over £15 million in the club’s annual salary budget, allowing the board to prioritize a “vastly improved deal” for the 20-year-old academy graduate that would bring his earnings in line with the club’s top performers.
This sudden shift in strategy follows a period of uncertainty for Mainoo under Ruben Amorim, during which the England international struggled for minutes and was linked with moves to Chelsea and Napoli.
However, after a standout performance in a 2-0 victory over Manchester City, interim manager Michael Carrick appears determined to center his long-term plans around the youngster, echoing his previous sentiment that “you can say they get it, they know it, let’s help them, let’s build them and stick with them and I think there’s definitely a place for him there for sure.”
With the futures of fellow midfielders Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes also subject to speculation, United are eager to secure Mainoo as a foundational piece of their evolving squad.
