Manchester United has appointed Kyle Macaulay, a respected analyst and former scouting head at Chelsea and Brighton, as their new head of senior scouting to bolster their transfer operations, reporting to Christopher Vivell.
Manchester United is making a significant move to strengthen its recruitment operations with the appointment of Kyle Macaulay, according to a report from The Athletic.
The 39-year-old, who has built a strong reputation as an analyst combining data with an expansive network, joins the club as the new Head of Senior Scouting.
Macaulay’s arrival is viewed as a central piece of the new, modernised scouting apparatus being established at Old Trafford as part of the ongoing club rebuild under INEOS.
He reports directly to Manchester United’s Director of Recruitment, Christopher Vivell, with whom he previously worked at Chelsea.
Macaulay brings a wealth of experience, having been closely associated with former manager Graham Potter throughout his career, beginning at Östersunds FK in 2012.
He subsequently followed Potter to Swansea City, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Chelsea, before a stint as Head of Recruitment at West Ham United, which he departed in October.
His tenure at Brighton was particularly noted for successful signings such as Moises Caicedo and Leandro Trossard.
United had been searching for this key recruitment figure since July, and Macaulay’s availability made him the clear first choice in a competitive selection process.
His role signals the club’s commitment to improved and targeted scouting under the new sporting leadership.
